U.S. Scott 65 3 cent Washington issue on cover from Savannah, Georgia to Johnson Station, Georgia. This fascinating cover, likely from the mid-1860s, is dated AUG 5 and has 2 Blue circle of wedges cancels with "STEAMBOAT" and "Due 3" markings. Johnson Station, Georgia was formed in the 1840s and renamed Ludowici, Georgia in 1905. Ludowici later became noted as an infamous speed trap that caught many people traveling south to Florida prior to building of the interstates. There is a tear on envelope flap and some creasing (see scans), but is, otherwise, in good condition and  a very desirable cover.
