U.S. Scott 808 Prexie/Prexy bisect paying the 2 cent first-class local rate on a Bethel, Vermont cover mailed on August 27, 1940. Although the use was illegal, no postage due was assessed, probably because the cover was favor canceled and handed back to the sender (see scans).
