12¢ Sheet Stamp - Most On Cover

Currently, the largest known number of the 12¢ sheet stamp on cover, parcel piece, or tag is: 10.

Description: Registered first class cover front to Washington, DC from Athens, Ohio with 10 copies of the 12¢ and a 4¢ Taft from the Fourth Bureau Issue. Most likely rate/fee combinations are for: (1) an eight times weight first-class cover (24¢) with a registry fee of $1 for an item with an indemnity value $900.01-$1,000; or a triple weight first-class cover (9¢) with a registry fee of $1.15. The triple weight first-class combination was available from 3/26/1944-12/31/1948 on an item with an indemnity value of $600.01-$700 and from 01/01/1952-06/30/1957 on an item with an indemnity value of $300.01-$400. Due to the presence of the 4¢ Taft and the size of the envelope, it is most likely that this was an eight times weight first-class envelope.
