The company, which is still in existence as AK Steel Holding, was founded in Middletown in 1899 as the American Rolling Mill Company. The cover was mailed from Middleton to Newmansville, Pennsylvania and has a Columbia rectilinear machine cancel with mute date and time (typical for 3rd class).
