U.S. Scott 498 (3 copies), the 1 value picturing George Washington from the Washington-Franklin issues, paying the wartime 3 cent first-class rate, on a Walther League patriotic cover saying "With the Colors". The Walther League was a Lutheran youth organization that was showing loyalty to the U.S. to help offset discrimination against those of German descent in WW I. The cover was mailed from the Camp Paul Jones, Great Lakes, Illinois on November 25, 1918 to Minneapolis, Minnesota and has a duplex slogan cancel saying "U. S. Receiving Ship" show the letter was processed by a Great Lakes steamship post office. There is a stain at top left and some tears at top (not affecting stamps) where cover was roughly opened (see scans).
